The CXRacing Front Mount Intercooler Kit is a direct bolt-on upgrade designed to replace the restrictive factory top-mount intercooler in the 2nd Gen MazdaSpeed3. This system is engineered to improve airflow, optimize intercooler positioning for maximum ambient air exposure, and increase surface area by 48% over the stock unit. These enhancements substantially reduce charge air temperatures, eliminate heat soak, and improve overall engine performance and consistency. Extensive dyno testing has demonstrated the limitations of the factory intercooler, which can experience significant heat soak and temperature increases after just a few runs. The CXRacing FMIC, by contrast, maintains significantly lower charge temperatures throughout successive runs, showing a difference of over 60 degrees Fahrenheit compared to stock. This improved cooling directly translates to measurable gains, with the kit reportedly increasing power output by up to 23 hp and 31 lb-ft of torque. It also features mandrel-bent aluminum piping with a 2.5" inlet/outlet, polished finish, silicon hoses, T-bolt clamps, and a Blow-Off Valve (BOV). This kit is specifically designed for the 2010-2013 2nd Gen MazdaSpeed3 equipped with the 2.3L DISI Turbo engine. The improved cooling can also help dramatically reduce harmful detonation and timing retard that might be applied by the factory ECU due to high intake temperatures.
