Front Oil Passage Seal Plate

The GM camshaft retainer plate (part #12589016) is engineered to function as a critical seal behind the engine's front cover. Its primary role is to prevent oil leaks from the front oil passages that lubricate the lifters, camshaft, and main bearings. This plate is equipped with a specifically designed O-ring seal for robust oil containment. This retainer plate is constructed to withstand increased cam loads, making it suitable for applications involving higher RPMs, more aggressive camshaft profiles, and upgraded valve springs. The part is compatible with a wide range of GM engines, including all factory LSX, LTX, and the newer LV1 and LV3 V6 direct-injected 4.3L engines. The Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) version, BTR89016, is noted as being similar to the GM part and features a gray O-ring seal. Note that the Genuine GM Parts version may not include hardware and requires the use of counter-sunk bolts (Part# 11561455).
