The Powerflex Front Thrust Rod Bushings are precision-engineered polyurethane replacements for the E39 BMW 540i (1997-2003) and M5 (2000-2003). Designed as a direct fit for the upper control arm (also known as the thrust arm, traction strut, or upper control arm), these bushings replace aging factory rubber to restore handling and steering sharpness. Built using advanced polyurethane manufacturing techniques, these bushings feature a durometer specifically selected by design engineers for this location to balance performance and compliance. The design incorporates unique material features that hold the supplied copper-based grease, minimizing the need for periodic re-lubrication. Each set includes the necessary bushings and lubricant to ensure a long-lasting, durable upgrade over original equipment parts. Note that this part fits 540i and M5 models; for other petrol or diesel E39 models, the PFF5-510 part is required. Installation involves removing the original rubber bushings and cleaning the bore before pressing in the polyurethane replacements. All Powerflex bushings are backed by a lifetime warranty.
