This regulator is a critical part of the fuel delivery system, responsible for maintaining consistent fuel pressure to the injectors. It works by regulating excess fuel back to the fuel tank based on engine demand, ensuring optimal air-fuel mixture for efficient combustion. Symptoms of a failing fuel pressure regulator can include decreased fuel efficiency, black smoke from the exhaust, fuel leaks, a fuel odor, and the illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL) due to abnormal fuel pressure readings.
