Overview

The Brosol fuel pump is a mechanical fuel pump designed for VW Type 1 engines. It is a generator-style pump requiring a 108mm fuel pump push rod and fits engines with a removable generator or alternator stand. Made in Brazil, this iron fuel pump is compatible with models from 1961-1973, including the Beetle, Ghia, Type 3, and Thing.

Designed for use with stock carburetor setups, this pump is compatible with 1200cc (40hp) through 1600cc Volkswagen engines that utilize a generator. It is crucial that this fuel pump is used with a 107.5mm (long) fuel pump rod for proper operation. It is important to note the distinction between generator-style and alternator-style fuel pumps. While they may appear similar, their mounting bases differ. Generator pumps have an actuator that protrudes past the base, whereas alternator pumps have a recessed actuator. Ordering the incorrect style can lead to damage or malfunction. Additionally, fuel pumps are not always shipped with gaskets, so it is recommended to purchase extra gaskets, which can also be used for shimming the fuel pump during installation. This fuel pump was originally used by Volkswagen on various models including the Beetle ('61-'73), Super Beetle ('71-'73), Karmann Ghia ('61-'73), Bus ('61-'71), and Thing ('73-'74). The product is sold individually and is made in Brazil.
