It is crucial that this fuel pump is used with a 107.5mm (long) fuel pump rod for proper operation. It is important to note the distinction between generator-style and alternator-style fuel pumps. While they may appear similar, their mounting bases differ. Generator pumps have an actuator that protrudes past the base, whereas alternator pumps have a recessed actuator. Ordering the incorrect style can lead to damage or malfunction. Additionally, fuel pumps are not always shipped with gaskets, so it is recommended to purchase extra gaskets, which can also be used for shimming the fuel pump during installation. This fuel pump was originally used by Volkswagen on various models including the Beetle ('61-'73), Super Beetle ('71-'73), Karmann Ghia ('61-'73), Bus ('61-'71), and Thing ('73-'74).
