The APR Low-Pressure Fuel Pump (LPFP) Upgrade is designed to ensure the low-pressure fueling system can deliver the proper volume of fuel from the fuel tank to the high-pressure fueling system under high-demand situations. The factory LPFP sits in a basket submerged in the vehicle's gas tank and operates off a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal from the pump's control module. Upgrading the LPFP is complex due to packaging constraints within the factory enclosure and the risk of overheating the factory control unit. Even larger factory units from high-output vehicles like the Audi TT RS and RS3 can present issues with the LPFP control module and and CAN bus communication.

The APR solution features a 255 LPH high-pressure inline fuel pump that sits between the HPFP and the factory LPFP. An included APR Auxiliary ECU connects to the factory CAN bus, receiving critical operating information from the factory ECU to accurately control the pump's output and deliver the desired fuel volume to the HPFP. This eliminates less sophisticated control methods, resulting in lower power consumption, reduced fuel temperature, and minimal noise (especially at idle). The APR Auxiliary ECU also includes a quick fuel tank emptying mode for switching fuel grades or dry storage/transportation.
