FX-200 High-Pressure Fuel Pump

The Spool Performance FX-200 is an upgraded high-pressure fuel pump designed as a direct replacement for the stock unit in BMW B58 engines. This pump boasts a significantly larger bore size, which translates to roughly double the fuel flow compared to the factory component. This increased flow capability is essential for supporting higher ethanol concentrations, such as E85, and enables the fueling required for larger turbocharger installations. The FX-200 is engineered for a fully plug-and-play installation, requiring no cutting or splicing of any factory wiring. The stock high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) on B58 engines is a significant limitation when attempting to tune for increased output. The FX-200 addresses this by adding 100% more flow, effectively raising the fueling limits of the platform. This allows tuners to achieve greater power gains from bigger turbos and higher ethanol blends. It is crucial to note that the upgraded FX-200 pump requires calibration changes. These changes must be applied before starting the engine with the new pump installed to prevent potential damage and voiding of the warranty. Insufficient low-pressure fueling can lead to damage to the pump's piston and bore, which are lubricated by fuel leakage. Such damage is detectable and will void the warranty.
