The Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 224 is a fully synthetic lubricant designed for refrigeration compressors and heat pumps. It is formulated from wax-free, synthesized hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids, offering excellent resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation. This lubricant provides superior low-temperature fluidity and high shear stability, enabling it to perform in severe service conditions beyond the capabilities of conventional mineral oils. Its low miscibility with common refrigerants, such as ammonia and carbon dioxide, results in higher film thickness and reduced shaft seal leakage. The low volatility characteristics also minimize "light end stripping."

The Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 224 is a fully synthetic, superior performance lubricant specifically engineered for refrigeration compressors and heat pumps. It is formulated using wax-free, synthesized hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids, which provide outstanding resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation. This lubricant offers naturally high shear stable viscosity indexes and excellent low-temperature fluidity, allowing it to operate effectively in severe service conditions that exceed the capabilities of many conventional mineral oils. Its formulation ensures low miscibility with commonly used refrigerants like ammonia and carbon dioxide. This results in higher film thickness when refrigerants are present under pressure, which helps to reduce shaft seal leakage and improve compressor protection. Key features include high oil film thickness for enhanced compressor protection and extended life, excellent thermal and oxidative stability for longer oil life and reduced maintenance, and low volatility for consistent viscosity and reduced oil consumption. The high Viscosity Index and wax-free nature contribute to excellent low-temperature fluidity, preventing waxy deposits and improving evaporator efficiency. Additionally, its low traction coefficient offers the potential for improved system efficiency and reduced power consumption, while its seal compatibility ensures long seal life and minimizes leakage.
