The Garrett GT4088R (also known as GT40R) is a high-performance dual ball bearing turbocharger engineered to deliver significant power gains for demanding applications. Known for its efficiency compared to older "T" technology, the GT series offers quicker spool-up, improved reliability, reduced shaft movement, and better flow dynamics. This turbo assembly boasts a robust construction featuring an 88mm compressor wheel with a 52 trim and a 77mm turbine wheel with a 78 trim. The compressor housing has a 4" inlet and a 2.5" outlet, while the exhaust housing utilizes a T4 flange with a 3" V-band exit. Buyers can select from multiple exhaust housing A/R ratios, including .85, .95, 1.06, and 1.19, to fine-tune performance characteristics. The center section is equipped with dual stainless steel ball bearings for enhanced durability and longevity, and the turbo is oil and water cooled for optimal operating temperatures. Capable of supporting high horsepower figures, the GT4088R is rated for 400 to 700 HP and is suitable for engine displacements ranging from 2.0L to 6.0L. It is particularly noted for providing very strong top-end power with the fast response that Garrett GT series turbos are known for.
