The Bosch 0261520520 is a high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) engineered for modern gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines. It significantly boosts fuel pressure, allowing for direct injection into the combustion chamber. This process enhances fuel atomization, leading to improved engine efficiency and increased power output. The HPFP is a crucial component driven by the camshaft and works in conjunction with a low-pressure fuel pump. This particular Bosch HDP-6 pump offers an upgrade over the stock HDP-5-EVO, featuring a higher flow rate of 1.178 cc/rev compared to 0.954 cc/rev, and can handle up to 350 bar of pressure, an increase from the HDP-5-EVO's 250 bar. It is commonly utilized as a direct plug-and-play solution for tuned Gen 1 B48/B58 applications that require additional fueling to support tuning modifications and achieve greater power. The pump is manufactured in Germany and is considered a performance-grade component. Installation on Gen 1 B58/B48 engines requires rotating the connector housing for the fuel quantity control valve, a straightforward procedure. Alternatively, an extension harness can be used. To realize the full performance potential of this upgraded fuel pump, tuning is necessary. It is recommended for BMW models equipped with B58 engines from 2015 to 2018, and is a fixed part in all models from 2019.
