The Kaiser Engineering KE-FDST-RS-DD is a plug-and-play Digital Dash Complete Kit (Gen 2) specifically engineered for the Ford Focus ST/RS. This kit provides a direct replacement for your vehicle's existing gauges, leveraging the original mounting holes, screws, and OEM connector for a seamless installation. Unlike universal solutions, this upgrade is fine-tuned for your Focus ST/RS, ensuring it works right out of the box. This open-source digital dashboard offers advanced functionality, including CAN bus communication and multiple expansion port options. It allows for extensive customization, enabling users to integrate features such as shift lights, real-time graphing, and meshing sensor data with the ECU. The system has been significantly optimized by eliminating the operating system and transitioning to a fully embedded solution. This results in a boot time of under one second and reduces power consumption by half. Reliability is enhanced through the use of automotive-grade onboard storage, replacing the micro SD cards used in previous generations that could fail over time. The software size has been drastically reduced from 3GB to 16MB, facilitating faster and more frequent over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates wirelessly through a web app. The platform is DIY-friendly, with its web app running on an ESP32 co-processor, allowing for customization without affecting the core gauge functionality on the STM32 main processor. The ESP32 also provides its own CAN bus communication and channels to the main processor for easy data access for DIY projects. The kit includes the Ford Focus ST/RS Motherboard, Enclosure, Digital Dash LCD, Digital Dash Base Expansion Card, and mounting hardware. Features include OEM mounting location (tested in LHD vehicles, RHD may require modification), OEM connector, screen brightness mirroring vehicle settings, CAN bus data, expansion port, up to 3 digital gauges, customizable themes, min/max tracking, background PID monitoring, dynamic gauges, pop-up warnings, auto-on/off, and firmware update support. Note that as an OBD-II device, it may conflict with other accessories connected to the vehicle's OBD-II port, potentially limiting certain parameters.
