The Active Autowerke Gen 2 Equal Length Mid Pipe (part #11-055G2) is engineered to enhance the exhaust note of the BMW F80 M3 and F82 M4. This midpipe is designed to equalize the length of the exhaust pipes before they merge, addressing the unevenly spaced pulses from the S55 engine's twin-turbo setup that can result in a higher-pitched, less desirable exhaust sound. By using a patented crossover with sinusoidal pipes, Active Autowerke corrects the downpipe length variance, producing a sound more akin to a traditional 6-cylinder sports car. Key features of this midpipe include a lighter weight compared to the factory system, quicker turbo spool, and increased low-end and mid-range power. The equal-length design specifically aims to eliminate the pulsing sound caused by unequal downpipe lengths, creating a smoother and fuller exhaust tone.
