Gen III+ Chevrolet Engine Conversion Aluminum Radiator

The Novak Conversions K-XJ31H is an all-aluminum radiator engineered for 1987-2001 Jeep XJ and MJ models, particularly those undergoing engine conversions with Generation III+ Chevrolet (LS) engines. This heavy-duty radiator is built to manage the cooling demands of more powerful engines within the XJ's confined grille space. Featuring a thick, single-row, 1.25-inch cross-flow core, this radiator offers maximum heat exchange. The construction utilizes furnace-brazed headers and TIG-welded assembly for durability. The latest KryoFlow design includes a fully integrated triple-fan system and shroud, welded directly to the radiator assembly during production for a robust, compact unit that provides excellent airflow and cooling performance. This integrated design simplifies installation and enhances long-term durability, especially in demanding off-road conditions. This radiator's design eliminates the need for a remote fill bottle, converting to an improved system with the filler neck located in the upper radiator hose. This simplification declutters the engine bay and minimizes the risk of engine damage associated with earlier systems' air pockets, thereby increasing cooling system reliability. The radiator has a 1-1/2" top inlet on the passenger's side and a lower 1-3/8" outlet, also on the passenger's side. Installation requires typical mechanics' hand tools, along with appropriate hoses, clamps, and coolant. It is recommended that installers verify fan-to-radiator clearance and engine mount integrity before operation. Note that the 1984-1986 XJ models have a different grille support assembly that is incompatible with this radiator and will require modification or the fitment of a later style front structure and radiator support from a salvage Cherokee. The radiator does not feature an integrated transmission cooler, as Novak recommends separate units for optimal performance.
