Gen V 220 Camshaft

The Brian Tooley Racing Gen V 220 Camshaft is engineered for enhanced performance in Gen V LT applications. This camshaft boasts a 220/23X duration, .644/.644 lift, 113 LSA, and a 32% fuel lobe, with an intake lobe lift at TDC of 0.06590. Rigorous Spintron testing and Superflow Engine Dynamometer validation have gone into developing stable and powerful lobes, showing improved valve train stability and greater horsepower and torque gains compared to competing designs. This results in increased longevity and reduced valve train wear. For L83 applications, the Gen V 220 is BTR's largest recommended offering, capable of producing over 500 hp with simple bolt-ons on a stock bottom end. It leverages the factory VVT system to optimize valve events for strong low-end torque and explosive top-end power. However, for 5.3L engines (L83), piston fly-cutting is mandatory to ensure proper valve clearance, and a DOD delete is also required, necessitating cylinder head removal. In L86 truck applications, this versatile camshaft delivers excellent low and mid-range torque, with exceptional power up to redline, making it suitable for work, towing, or weekend cruising while providing a noticeable idle. For LT1 customers, the Gen V 220 significantly boosts top-end horsepower, exceeding 600 hp while maintaining smooth power delivery and excellent driveability for daily drivers or weekend vehicles. Installation requires BTR's dual .660" lift platinum or Gen V Conical spring package and hardened pushrods for all L83, L86, and LT1 applications. Proper VVT control during tuning is imperative for this camshaft to perform optimally.
