Gen V 220 VVT Camshaft

The Brian Tooley Racing Gen V 220 LT Camshaft is engineered for significant performance gains across the powerband, utilizing extensive Spintron testing and Superflow Engine Dynamometer validation. With specific applications in mind, the Gen V 220 is BTR's largest recommended offering for L83 engines, capable of exceeding 500 hp in stock bottom-end applications with basic bolt-ons. It leverages the factory VVT system to optimize valve events for strong low-end torque and explosive top-end power. For L86 truck applications, it provides excellent low-to-mid range torque and exceptional power up to redline, suitable for work, towing, or daily driving, and produces a noticeable idle. LT1 customers can expect significant horsepower gains, over 600 hp, with smooth power delivery and excellent drivability for daily or weekend use. For L83 applications, a critical modification is required: pistons must be fly-cut to accommodate this camshaft grind. Additionally, a DOD delete is necessary, which involves cylinder head removal. For all L83, L86, and LT1 applications, BTR mandates the use of their dual .660" lift platinum or Gen V Conical spring package and hardened pushrods. Proper VVT control during tuning is imperative for this camshaft to perform optimally.
