Gen2 PNP ECU

The MegaSquirt Gen2 PnP ECU (MSPNP2-MM9697) is engineered as a direct replacement engine management system for the 1996-1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata models equipped with a manual transmission. It comes with a pre-loaded base map to facilitate initial engine startup. The system supports most aftermarket wideband sensors, enabling real-time tuning and data logging via a laptop connection. Key features include 16x16 fuel tables and 12x12 ignition tables for high-resolution tuning, multiple acceleration enrichment strategies, closed-loop idle speed control, and air conditioner control. It offers 4 sequential fuel injector channels with individual trim tables and onboard peak-and-hold drivers that accommodate both high and low impedance injectors, eliminating the need for an external ballast resistor. The ECU allows for the removal of the stock airflow meter and includes 12x12 air fuel ratio target tables for precise tuning with a wideband O2 sensor. Additional functionalities include a built-in 2-step rev limiter/launch control with flat shifting, real-time barometric correction, an internal 4-bar MAP sensor capable of reading up to 44 PSI of boost, overboost protection, and closed-loop boost control (requires a boost solenoid kit). Advanced features further enhance tuning capabilities, such as a knock sensor input with adjustable sensitivity and a headphone output for monitoring knock sounds during tuning. A table switching input allows for on-the-fly changes between fuel and spark maps, ideal for different fuel types or nitrous activation. It also features an input for a flex fuel sensor, enabling seamless switching between E85 and gasoline. The integrated CANBus connector provides the possibility of interconnecting other MegaSquirt-compatible devices for expanded functions like EGT input or automatic transmission control. Please note that this unit *does not fit* the 1996-1997 European or Japanese market 1.6L cars; those require the MM9093 Gen2 PnP. It is also essential to have a wideband O2 sensor and a vacuum line to get the car running, and an intake air temperature sensor is recommended.
