GEN2 PnP ECU

The MegaSquirt Gen2 Plug and Play (PnP) Engine Management System (EMS) is engineered for the 1990-1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata models equipped with a manual transmission. This unit provides a fully plug-and-play installation experience, meaning no complex wiring is necessary for its core functions, and the average installation time is under an hour. A pre-loaded base map specific to the Miata is included, facilitating engine startup on the first attempt. This ECU enables advanced engine tuning capabilities with its 16x16 fuel tables and 12x12 ignition tables, allowing for high-resolution adjustments. It supports multiple acceleration enrichment strategies, closed-loop idle speed control, and air conditioner control. The system can manage up to 4 sequential fuel injector channels, with individual trim tables available (though a minor wiring modification may be needed for sequential injection if the factory harness doesn't support it). The integrated peak and hold drivers are compatible with both high and low impedance injectors, eliminating the need for an external ballast resistor. Further enhancing its performance potential, the MegaSquirt Gen2 PnP ECU allows for the removal of the stock airflow meter and the addition of a variable Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) without special modifications. It features 12x12 Air Fuel Ratio Target Tables for use with an external wideband O2 sensor, ensuring precise tuning and table trimming. Advanced features include a built-in 2-step rev limiter and launch control with flat shifting, real-time barometric correction, and an internal 4-bar MAP sensor capable of reading up to 44 PSI of boost, complete with overboost protection and closed-loop boost control (which requires a separate boost solenoid kit). Additional inputs and functionalities are provided through a knock sensor input with adjustable sensitivity and a headphone output for listening to knock events during tuning. A table switching input allows for on-the-fly changes between fuel and spark maps, ideal for different fuel types or nitrous activation. The inclusion of a flex fuel sensor input enables seamless switching between E85 and gasoline. Furthermore, a CANBus connector opens up possibilities for integrating other MegaSquirt-compatible devices, such as EGT inputs, automatic transmission controllers, and additional sensors, significantly expanding the system's capabilities.
