The BMW Genuine Parts fuel tank sending unit is a direct-replacement component for your vehicle's fuel system. Located inside the fuel tank, its primary function is to accurately measure the remaining fuel and transmit this data to the dashboard fuel gauge. This is achieved by a float mechanism that adjusts a variable resistor, altering the electrical resistance sent to the gauge. Genuine BMW parts are the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components used by BMW during vehicle production. This ensures that the part meets BMW's stringent quality and performance standards, providing the same fit, finish, and function as the original. The unit is made in Germany and carries the 'Genuine' quality designation. Symptoms of a failing fuel tank sending unit can include inaccurate fuel gauge readings, a gauge that appears stuck, or a gauge that consistently reads empty even when fuel is present. Replacing the sending unit can resolve these issues, restoring accurate fuel level indication. Please note that this part does not include the fuel tank seal, which must be ordered separately (part number 16111179637).
