The oil pan is typically located at the lowest point of the engine bay, making it vulnerable to impacts from road debris, which can lead to cracking and oil leaks. When installing this oil pan, it is critical to also replace the associated hardware. The source material explicitly notes that you MUST also replace the aluminum screws (part number 11132210959) and the oil pan gasket (part number 11137548031) that secure the oil pan to the crank. Failure to do so could result in leaks or improper installation. This Genuine BMW oil pan is compatible with various BMW models including the 128i, 328i, 528i, and Z4, primarily from the 2007-2011 model years, with specific fitment depending on engine and transmission configurations (e.g., N51, N52 engines, Automatic RWD).
