GM 4WD High Clearance Engine Crossmember

The Offroad '73-87 GM 4WD High Clearance Engine Crossmember is engineered to replace the factory component, which is prone to cracking and can interfere with modifications. This heavy-duty crossmember stiffens the frame by bracing the factory motor mount brackets and significantly increases over-axle and crossover/high steer clearance by tucking the tubes closer to the motor and positioning them rearward of the stock location. It has been in service on shop vehicles since 1998. Designed for Big Block, 6.2L Diesel, and Gen III-V LS GM V8 engine applications, this crossmember offers improved performance and frame strength. For LS swaps, the big block version generally provides more oil pan clearance, though specific engine placement and aftermarket oil pan details are crucial considerations. It is important to note that this crossmember does not clear Cummins oil pans. Specific measurements for the small block version are provided for user verification. Installation requires drilling three holes in the bottom flange of the frame rail; otherwise, it bolts in. The crossmember can be installed with the engine in the truck, but the factory crossmember typically needs to be cut for removal. Easy access to motor mount bolts is a feature. When installing, ensure the center-to-center bolt spacing of 26.75 inches faces the radiator, meaning the taper should be narrower towards the front of the vehicle. The product requires at least a 2-inch suspension lift for clearance to the front differential. This crossmember is helpful for 2WD to 4WD conversions but is not compatible with 2WD suspension.
