GM Ecotec Super Damper

The ZZP ATI GM Ecotec Super Damper is engineered for GM's 4-cylinder Ecotec engine, offering enhanced performance and reliability for both street and race applications. This damper features all factory serpentine grooves integrated into its outer shell, allowing seamless use in various configurations. Specifically, it includes a lightweight 2024 aluminum outer shell designed to accommodate the 8-groove belts commonly found on aftermarket superchargers, while also functioning with a six-groove setup without modification. This damper is available in Overdrive and Underdrive models. The Underdrive version is recommended for turbo applications to help prevent over-spinning the alternator and to enhance high-RPM engine reliability. The Overdrive version is recommended for supercharged applications to increase blower speed, though it may require a larger blower pulley and potentially grinding extra clearance for the belt or using a machined front cover. For turbo setups, the Overdrive damper does not require a machined front cover due to the single side-ribbed belt. Installation requires specific steps, including using a flywheel stop, aligning the oil pump gear with the damper's key, and using a damper installation tool to press the damper onto the crankshaft without turning it. A stop leak sealer is recommended for the keyway. The damper bolt should be torqued to 74 ft-lbs plus 75 degrees with blue Loctite. Note that the overdrive pulley requires a longer belt and the underdrive pulley requires a shorter belt. For an LNF with the underdrive balancer, a K050390 belt is needed. This damper does not work on Kappa chassis vehicles due to power steering pump belt requirements; using it would necessitate deleting power steering.
