GT2871R Dual Ball Bearing Turbocharger

The Garrett GT2871R Ball Bearing Turbocharger represents a significant upgrade over older turbo technologies, offering improved efficiency, quicker spool times, and enhanced reliability. This unit features a 71mm compressor wheel, available in either 48 or 56 trim, paired with a 53.85mm turbine wheel (76 trim). The center section is equipped with dual stainless steel ball bearings, which contribute to faster spool-up and reduced lag. This turbo supports up to 430 HP and is designed for engines with a displacement of 1.8L to 3.0L. Users can select from various compressor housing options, including T04B, T04E, and T04S, with different inlet and outlet sizes to suit specific needs. Additionally, a wide range of exhaust/turbine housings and A/R ratios are available, allowing for fine-tuning of performance characteristics. The turbo is oil and water-cooled for optimal operating temperatures. Garrett states that their GT series turbos provide better flow dynamics, less shaft movement, and are stronger and more reliable than previous 'T' technology. The GT2871R is a popular upgrade, particularly noted for applications like the Nissan 240SX SR20DET engine. It is important to note that a wastegate actuator is included only when the T25 turbine housing and T04B compressor housing (3" Inlet & 2" outlet) are selected; it is not included with other housing combinations.
