The SunCoast Guardian 5R110 is a triple-disc billet torque converter specifically engineered for the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4 Powerstroke drivetrain. Recognizing that modified engines can easily exceed the factory torque converter clutch's capacity, leading to slip and premature failure, this converter is designed to withstand up to 1300 ft-lbs of torque. Its construction features a Billet Forged CNC'd Apply Piston and a redesigned damper assembly and piston capable of handling 1300 ft-lbs of torque, with zero deflection at 400 PSI due to a custom high-strength damper riveting system. Enhanced lubrication and cooling of clutches are achieved through modified oil flow. The use of new custom carbon graphite clutch paper contributes to improved performance and thermal efficiency, while upgraded turbine splines and a billet converter hub further enhance durability. The turbine and pump articulation are custom, and the entire unit is precision balanced to within .001 gram for optimal operation. This torque converter is manufactured and assembled in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This Guardian 5R110 torque converter features a stock stall speed, ensuring refined, stock-like characteristics during driving with any load. While the stator can be upgraded to billet to alter stall speed if desired, the standard configuration is ideal for those seeking to enhance the factory unit's performance cost-effectively.
