Carrillo utilizes a proprietary chrome, nickel, moly, vanadium alloy that meets VAR (vacuum arc re-melt ASTM standards). This material undergoes a mar-aged heat treat process, resulting in an Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) of 195,000 psi and a yield strength of 182,000 psi, while maintaining low notch-sensitivity and ductility. Each rod is manufactured from an oversized forging to ensure proper grainflow and surface integrity. Every Carrillo connecting rod is subjected to rigorous quality control, including magnafluxing at least twice, Rockwell testing to validate heat treat, and a final shotpeen operation. Critical CNC machines are equipped with probing for dimensional accuracy. Carrillo also employs proprietary fasteners, available in H-11 tool steel (220,000 UTS) or Multiphase TM (285,000 UTS), with patented thread designs. When properly installed and maintained, these precision rods are built to perform flawlessly in racing and high-performance applications for Duratec 2.0L/2.3L engines.
