Constructed from forged 4340 chromoly steel and featuring USA-made ARP 2000 rod bolts, these rods are designed to handle aggressive street use and upgraded forced induction. They are computer-optimized for specific applications, FEA-simulated for structural integrity, and balanced to within +/- 1 gram for a high power-to-weight ratio. These rods are honed to precise tolerances on Sunnen machinery, ensuring proper crankshaft journal and wristpin bushing roundness and clearances. An optional rifle drilling feature is available, which force-feeds oil pressure from the crankshaft journal to the wrist pin bushing, greatly extending engine life and reducing wear. This upgrade is highly recommended for street cars intended for extended mileage. Fitment is specific: these 144x20mm rods are compatible with VW/Audi engines using factory pistons with 20mm wrist pins and non-tapered rods. Engines with tapered rods or different wrist pin sizes will require aftermarket 20mm pistons. They are also compatible with stroker crankshafts and 20mm wrist pin stroker pistons for 2.0L or 2.1L conversions. Crucially, professional installation and ECU tuning are essential for engine reliability and to prevent connecting rod failure.
