HD Bar & Plate Intercooler

This upgrade significantly reduces intake air temperatures, preventing heat soak and allowing for greater horsepower gains, especially in tuned vehicles. Testing shows a notable decrease in temperature during a 3rd gear pull compared to the OEM intercooler's 32-degree rise. The intercooler core is a critical component for cooling charged air. The OEM BMW tube and fin intercooler is adequate for low boost levels, but a tuned engine with increased airflow and boost can overwhelm it, leading to heat soak, reduced horsepower, and potential pre-detonation. The VRSF HD bar & plate core, combined with CFD-optimized cast end tanks, offers superior cooling performance and durability. This kit is 87% larger than the OEM intercooler and is designed to support up to 800whp. The intercooler features tabs for retaining the factory fan shroud and its end tanks are compatible with both OEM and aftermarket charge pipes that adapt to the factory intercooler piping. After pressure testing, a thermal dispersant coating is applied for leak-free operation and added protection against the elements. The estimated installation time is under 1.5 hours.
