This kit replaces the factory head bolts, establishing a more secure connection between the cylinder head and the engine block. This enhanced connection is crucial for preventing cylinder head warping and gasket failures, especially under the extreme pressures and temperatures common in turbocharged diesel engines. Constructed from 442CrMo High-Strength Steel, these head studs offer exceptional durability. They boast a tensile strength exceeding 231,900 psi and a hardness of Rockwell C 39-44, ensuring they can withstand demanding operating conditions. The black oxide finish provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion. The kit includes a comprehensive set of fasteners, nuts, washers, sockets, hex keys, and a specialized grease for installation. Proper installation is critical. The manufacturer advises against treating head studs like ordinary bolts. It is recommended to clean and chase all block threads, verify hole depth, and check fluid passages before installation. Assembly lubricant should only be applied where specified, particularly on nut and washer contact surfaces.
