The 3M 39008 Headlight Lens Restoration System is a comprehensive solution for restoring clarity to dulled, yellowed, or hazy plastic lenses on vehicles. Instead of costly replacements, this system uses a progressive approach to remove scratches, dirt, and oxidation that detract from a vehicle's appearance and compromise driving visibility. The kit employs 3M's advanced abrasive technology, including Trizact™ abrasive discs, which are designed to precisely remove discoloration without damaging the plastic surface. The system can be used with just a spray bottle and water, or with a common household drill for more intensive restoration. It includes masking tape to protect painted surfaces, a series of abrasive discs for sanding and refining, and a polish and protectant to achieve a clear, like-new finish. The restoration process typically involves four steps: taping off the painted areas around the lens, using Trizact™ abrasive discs to remove haze and yellowing, polishing the lens to restore clarity, and applying a protective wax to maintain the finish. The Trizact™ abrasives feature microreplication, ensuring consistent cutting action and precise finish control by exposing fresh mineral as the disc wears.
