The Millennium-5 speakers boast several improvements over factory units. They feature significantly larger magnets than the original speakers, allowing them to handle 20 watts RMS of power each, a substantial increase from the OEM's 5 watts RMS. The cones are treated with a polymer impregnation for moisture resistance, crucial for a convertible, and improved transient response. The butyl rubber surrounds replace the common failure point of rotted paper or foam surrounds, enhancing low-end frequency response and providing a warm, neutral sound profile for extended listening comfort. Each speaker comes with pre-installed 150uf crossover/blocking capacitors, a feature valued at $20, to optimize performance and protect the speaker.
