The AFCO Heat Exchanger Dual Pass is engineered to enhance the cooling system of the 2007-2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This unit replaces the stock single-pass heat exchanger with a more efficient dual-pass design, allowing coolant to circulate twice for superior heat dissipation. This design is crucial for managing the high intake temperatures generated by the supercharged V8 engine, especially during spirited driving or track use. By lowering intake air temperatures, the AFCO heat exchanger helps prevent power loss due to heat soak and reduces the risk of detonation, promoting a more consistent and reliable power output. Constructed from durable aluminum with a furnace-brazed core and TIG-welded tanks, this heat exchanger is built for longevity and performance. It boasts a larger core size with a 50% increase in front face area and a 135% increase in overall surface area compared to the stock unit. The dimensions of the AFCO unit are approximately 26.25 inches wide by 9 inches tall, with a depth of 3 inches. It is designed to provide a typical temperature drop of 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit at wide-open throttle. Installation is designed to be a straightforward, bolt-in process, requiring basic hand tools and approximately 2-3 hours. All necessary hardware, including hoses and an installation manual, is included, with the exception of replacement coolant fluid.
