Overview

The Maximum Motorsports MMRLCA-1 is a set of heavy-duty rear lower control arms designed for 1979-1998 Ford Mustangs with a solid rear axle.

These control arms feature a unique 3-piece urethane bushing and spherical bearing design to improve traction and handling by reducing unwanted deflection and axle wind-up. This design minimizes fore/aft movement of the axle, which can cause instability and wheel hop, while still allowing for proper suspension articulation.

The Maximum Motorsports MMRLCA-1 Heavy-Duty Rear Lower Control Arms are engineered to significantly enhance traction and handling for 1979-1998 Ford Mustangs equipped with a solid rear axle. By replacing the stock, soft rubber bushings and flexible stamped steel control arms, these MM arms reduce unwanted axle deflection and wind-up during acceleration. This directly combats issues like wheel hop and rear-end instability caused by the stock components' tendency to allow the axle to shift fore and aft, thereby altering rear tire toe. The core of the MMRLCA-1's design is its unique 3-piece urethane bushing system at the chassis end and a spherical bearing at the axle end. This combination allows for the necessary articulation required for proper suspension function while simultaneously minimizing deflection. The large 2" diameter round steel tube construction ensures maximum strength and durability. These control arms are manufactured by MM in the U.S.A. Maximum Motorsports offers options for deleting the spring perch and swaybar mount, selectable above. It is important to note that while these heavy-duty control arms are suitable for most applications, Mustangs producing over 400 rwhp or those frequently launched hard from a standing start may overload the urethane bushings, potentially leading to premature failure. For such demanding conditions, Maximum Motorsports recommends their MM Extreme-Duty control arms.
