The Wavetrac differential is a state-of-the-art helical gear differential designed, developed, and manufactured in the USA. It features patented technology that mitigates wheelspin during unloaded wheel conditions by creating internal load. The internal gears are made from high-strength 9310 alloy steel, and the diff bodies are machined from case-hardened steel billet.

It incorporates patented technology that actively counteracts wheelspin when a wheel loses traction or becomes unloaded. By creating internal load, the Wavetrac maintains drive on the gripping wheel, preventing the vehicle from becoming immobile like an open differential. This advanced design ensures consistent power delivery even in challenging conditions. The internal gears are forged from high-strength 9310 alloy steel, optimized for strength and improved oil film retention. This robust construction is essential for handling high power levels and demanding driving scenarios. This specific Wavetrac differential (model 40.309.170WK) is designed to fit the Porsche 944 from 1986 and up, including turbo models. It also fits Audi Front applications such as the Coupe GT, 4000 Quattro, and Quattro Coupe with the 016/093 5-speed manual transmission. It is important to note that Porsche 944 turbo and turbo S models equipped with an OEM LSD and the trans oil cooler option will require a conversion to an open-diff style drive gear (part number 016.115.165A and rollpin N.100.792.01). An included bearing spacer is necessary for the small end side of the differential on some models.
