HERO5 Session Action Camera

The GoPro HERO5 Session is a compact action camera built for capturing your adventures, offering a significant upgrade from its predecessor with 4K video recording capabilities. It features a 10MP CMOS sensor, digital image stabilization, and voice control for hands-free operation. The camera is rugged and waterproof up to 33 feet, making it suitable for various environments without requiring an additional housing. Key specifications include video recording up to 3840 x 2160 at 30fps, and photo capture at 10MP with a burst rate of 30 photos per second. It supports microSD recording media and various aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3). Built-in stereo microphones and a speaker enhance audio capture and playback, while Wi-Fi connectivity allows for easy file transfer and remote control via the GoPro Capture App. However, the HERO5 Session has some limitations compared to the HERO5 Black, including fewer frame rate options for 4K recording and the inability to remove or replace the battery, which has a limited life of approximately 40-43 minutes when shooting 4K 30p. The digital image stabilization, while present, does not function in 4K and can introduce slight distortion in the corners of the shot. Low-light performance is also noted as a weakness, with the camera performing best in sunny conditions. For framing shots, changing settings, or controlling the camera, reliance on the phone app is necessary, which can also deplete phone battery.
