The FlowKooler 1649CI is a hi-flow water pump designed for 1970-1981 Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile vehicles with an 11-bolt pattern. This cast iron pump features a 4-1/2" fan hub working height and a 16-blade CNC aluminum impeller. The impeller is surface coated with a military-grade Type II anodized finish for protection against corrosive fluids.

The FlowKooler 1649CI is a high-flow water pump engineered for 1970-1981 Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile vehicles featuring an 11-bolt pattern. It incorporates a CNC-machined billet impeller with an increased vane count and tighter clearances between the impeller vanes and the backing plate, which enhances fluid dynamics for more efficient cooling. The impeller itself is treated with a military-grade Type II anodized finish, providing robust protection against corrosive substances. Key specifications include a 4-1/2" fan hub working height, 16 CNC aluminum impeller blades, and the capability for clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation. This water pump is designed to work with serpentine conversion kits and is compatible with Pontiac V-8 engines ranging from 326 to 455 cubic inches. While the backing plate is sold separately, the pump includes mounting gaskets, an installation sheet, and a FlowKooler decal. It is important to note that this pump is not compatible with 1969 400 blocks (casting #9796351), which require pump 1647. Owners attempting to modify impeller-to-plate clearances should do so with caution, as improper adjustments that cause interference will lead to friction, failure, and will void the warranty.
