It utilizes a custom conical cloth air filter with increased surface area for improved airflow capacity, a polished aluminum intake tube for a smoother path to the turbocharger, and a unique airflow straightener grid. This design helps maintain optimal flow while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management issues. The calibration is essential to account for the improved airflow characteristics, the MAF sensor's position in the new tube, and changes in intake air temperature behavior. When installed with the correct map, the hardware and calibration form a validated system, realizing the full potential for improved throttle response and power delivery. The SF Intake is constructed with a high-temperature plastic composite body, which helps reduce heat transfer and save weight. The system retains the factory MAF sensor for accurate air mass measurement. This SF Intake system is legal for sale and use on Emissions Controlled Vehicles in all 50 states due to having California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) numbers D-660-3, D-660-4, and D-660-102.
