High Flow Fuel Pump

The Cobb Tuning High Flow Fuel Pump is designed as a direct drop-in replacement for the factory in-tank fuel pump in select Subaru models. This upgrade is crucial for vehicles running flex fuel, high injector duty cycles, or those targeting high-power builds, as the factory pump's flow rate can become a limiting factor under increased demand. The primary role of a fuel pump is to ensure adequate fuel volume is delivered at the correct pressure to meet injector demands. When operating on E85 or high ethanol blends, vehicles require significantly more fuel volume (30-40% more) compared to gasoline due to ethanol's lower energy density. This high-flow fuel pump guarantees that the fuel system can supply the necessary volume, even under high boost and demanding fuel flow rates, thereby preventing potentially damaging fuel pressure drops that can lead to lean conditions. After installation, it's recommended to verify correct rail pressure maintenance using a fuel pressure sensor and Accessport monitoring. For builds utilizing E85 or other high ethanol blends, a high-flow fuel pump is considered a necessary upgrade when pushing power levels beyond the factory pump's capability. This fuel pump is compatible with the 2005-2009 Subaru Legacy GT and the 2005-2009 Subaru Outback XT, both equipped with the EJ255 engine. All necessary hardware and seals are included in the box.
