When equipped with this thermostat, your engine's cooling system can begin carrying heat away from the engine sooner. The coolant travels to the radiator for temperature reduction and then returns to the engine at a lower temperature. This optimized circulation process, activated by the thermostat's earlier opening, gives the coolant a head start in heat dissipation. This makes it an excellent addition to performance radiators, which further enhance cooling efficiency through increased coolant volume, larger surface area, and improved airflow. Low-temperature thermostats like this one are particularly beneficial for vehicles driven spiritedly on the road or track, where engine temperatures can rise rapidly. The technical specifications indicate this RCM thermostat begins opening at 70°C (158°F) and is fully open by 90°C, a significant difference compared to OEM thermostats which typically start opening at 90°C (194°F) and are fully open by 95°C.
