High-Flow Water Pump

The FlowKooler 1668 is a high-flow mechanical water pump engineered to combat overheating issues in small block Chevy engines, particularly at low RPMs and idle. It boasts a 16-vane, CNC-machined aluminum impeller with an increased vane count and reduced plate-impeller clearance, which results in superior flow rates and higher head pressure compared to standard OEM water pumps. This enhanced flow reduces coolant cycle time, allowing for more efficient heat dissipation and lower engine temperatures. The pump body is constructed from durable cast iron, while the impeller features a military-grade Type II Class II anodized finish for added protection. It is designed as a "short" shaft pump for small block Chevy applications and is capable of spinning in either a clockwise (CW) or counter-clockwise (CCW) direction. The pulley hub includes both large and small bolt patterns. Additionally, a bypass feature aids in circulating coolant for uniform engine temperature, with an included pin to block the bypass if desired for routing more coolant to the radiator. Key specifications include a 5 5/8" fan hub working height, 5/16-24 fine fan hub studs, a 5/8" shaft diameter, and a 1 3/4" inlet outside diameter. The hose connections are 3/4" for the first connection and 1" for the second, both of which are threaded. The FlowKooler 1668 is compatible with a wide range of AMC, Checker, and Chevrolet V8 engines from the 1950s through the 1970s, including models like the Bel Air, Biscayne, Camaro, Corvette, Impala, and various C/K series pickups and Suburbans.
