For Miatas exceeding 280 hp, the stock harmonic damper can fail, leading to damage to the oil pump gears and bearings, oil pressure loss, and potentially catastrophic engine failure. This kit replaces the stock unit with a robust dual-function damper that improves engine smoothness through enhanced vibration absorption. Installation requires a balancer installer, as the damper must be pressed on accurately. The kit includes a custom trigger wheel, which is essential for the engine to run. Additionally, a belt guide is provided and must be installed to prevent rapid wear of the timing belt. The kit also contains the necessary lube for installation, a new crank bolt, and a new woodruff key, ensuring a complete installation. However, it's important to note that a custom -6 degree timing wheel (sold separately) is required when used with Flyin' Miata's Stage 1 turbo kits. While compatible with most accessory belts, it may not work with all configurations. This damper is standard equipment on all Flyin' Miata-built engines and is recommended even for stock-power engines to ensure oil pump longevity and smoother running. It is designed to fit all 1996-2005 Miatas.
