Overview

The Ford Performance FRDM6550-3V is a high-lift, hotrod camshaft set designed to give a "lopey" idle reminiscent of 1960s muscle cars. This cam set is engineered for naturally aspirated and supercharged applications, making it an excellent upgrade for the 2005-2010 Mustang GT 4.6L 3-Valve engine. It increases valve lift from the stock 11 mm (0.433") to 12 mm (0.472").

The Ford Performance FRDM6550-3V Hot Rod Camshaft set is engineered for the 4.6L 3V engine, providing the distinctive "lopey idle" associated with older pushrod engines. This camshaft features a "high lift" design, with a lift of 0.433 inches on both intake and exhaust. The duration at 0.050 inch lift is 221 degrees for the intake and 240 degrees for the exhaust, with a 110 LSA (Lobe Separation Angle). It is important to note that these cams are tune-required, meaning an engine tune is necessary for proper operation and performance. The installation instructions also note to apply a light film of brake caliper grease to the inside of the coil boot during installation. The cams have standard size cam journals, but re-manufactured engines typically require additional considerations during installation.
