HP Front Strut Insert Pair

The Tokico HP Series gas struts are a direct-fit, front strut insert pair designed for the Datsun 260Z and 280Z models produced between September 1974 and 1978. Engineered with Tokico's damping philosophy, the HP Series excels at optimizing tire adhesion, handling precision, and ride composure. This is achieved through a unique piston design with a multi-stage variable-aperture valve system that minimizes low-speed damping while significantly increasing damping force at medium and high piston speeds. The specialized oil lubricant within these struts is formulated to resist breakdown and maintain consistent viscosity across varying temperatures, ensuring reliable performance. These struts offer a superior upgrade for enhanced traction, stability, steering response, cornering ability, and braking performance. They effectively reduce undesirable suspension movements such as body roll in corners, dive under braking, and squat under acceleration. Despite these performance enhancements, the HP Series provides virtually no compromise in ride quality, making them suitable for vehicles equipped with lowering springs and larger, heavier aftermarket wheels. The construction emphasizes precision, featuring a pressure tube that is mandrel-drawn twice to ensure tight dimensional tolerances and concentricity, which promotes excellent sealing and minimizes dynamic friction. Furthermore, a Teflon™ coated Piston Rod Guide further reduces friction and extends the piston rod's lifespan. The piston rod itself is hardened, chrome-plated, and micro-polished for smooth operation and to contribute to long seal life.
