Hush-O-Matic Active Exhaust System

This system features an OE-quality butterfly valve that dynamically alters the exhaust path based on throttle input. At idle and light throttle, the exhaust stream is directed through an effective muffler, ensuring comfortable and neighborhood-friendly sound levels. As you press deeper into the throttle pedal, the butterfly valve opens, rerouting the exhaust through a less restricted, sportier path within the muffler. This modification not only enhances the sound but also reduces backpressure, allowing the car to respond more eagerly to your input. While never fully bypassing the muffler, the system provides a sporty, never obnoxious, sound. For 2016-2023 Miatas, an optional CAN integration package is available, allowing on-the-fly adjustment of the exhaust's behavior via a dial. This enables control over when the valve opens, from always loud to always quiet, or setting specific throttle percentages for valve actuation. The system is compatible with automatic transmissions and the Hard Dog "Hideaway" hitch. It's important to note that due to the valve's design, a slight vibrational noise might occur at the point of closure during small throttle openings, though this is often unnoticeable.
