The Radiator 398240 is an HVAC heater core engineered to restore interior cabin heating for various GM C/K series trucks and compatible SUVs, including models from 1988-2002. This unit is built with an all-aluminum core, tubes, and tank construction to optimize heat exchange and durability. It features a 1-inch core thickness and a 26mm overall unit thickness, with inlet and outlet pipe diameters of 0.63 inches to match original factory specifications. Installation of this heater core typically requires access to the interior HVAC housing. Some users report that replacing the unit can involve hidden screws within the lower heater housing; therefore, verify your specific vehicle's service procedure before beginning. The unit includes the necessary gaskets and o-rings for the connection to the engine-side heater hoses. For proper operation, ensure the cooling system is thoroughly bled of air after installation, as air pockets trapped within the heater core can cause a lack of cabin heat.
