Description

The Comp Cams 08-433-8 Xtreme Energy camshaft is a performance-oriented hydraulic roller camshaft engineered for Small Block Chevrolet engines (262-400 c.i.) originally equipped with OE roller cams, specifically from model years 1987-1998 (excluding LT1 & LT4). With an advertised intake duration of 288 degrees and exhaust duration of 294 degrees, this cam offers substantial valve overlap. At .050 inch lift, the intake duration is 236 degrees and the exhaust duration is 242 degrees, with an intake lift of 0.520 inches and an exhaust lift of 0.540 inches. The 110-degree lobe separation angle and 106-degree intake centerline contribute to its performance characteristics within the 2500 to 6000 RPM operating range. This camshaft is recommended for engines with 9:1+ compression, and when used with intake, headers, and gears, it necessitates a 3000+ RPM stall torque converter and will produce a rough idle.

The Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 236/242 Hydraulic Roller Cam is designed for OE roller Small Block Chevrolet engines from 1987-1998. This camshaft features a hydraulic roller design and is intended for street/strip applications.

With an operating RPM range of 2,500-6,000, it offers 236 degrees of intake duration and 242 degrees of exhaust duration at 0.050 lift. The valve lift is 0.52 inches for the intake and 0.54 inches for the exhaust. This camshaft requires the use of upgraded valve springs.
