The Crow Cams 871270 is a hydraulic roller camshaft engineered for LS V8 engines, specifically designed to offer a moderate lift profile for street performance. It aims to deliver strong mid-range power and torque while maintaining a noticeable, tough idle suitable for performance applications. Detailed specifications for the 871270 camshaft include an advertised duration of 277 degrees on the intake and 281 degrees on the exhaust. At the 0.050-inch lift mark, the durations are 223 degrees for the intake and 228 degrees for the exhaust. The valve lift measures .580 inches on the intake and .584 inches on the exhaust, with a 114-degree Lobe Separation Angle (LSA). The camshaft is designed for an optimal operating range between 2200 and 6200 RPM. This camshaft utilizes the more reliable 3-bolt cam sprocket pattern, mitigating the risk of shearing associated with single-bolt designs common on some later model LS engines. However, it is noted that some 2006 and newer L76, L77, L98, and LS3 6.0L & 6.2L engines may have used single-bolt cams, and adapter kits (CS8LS2, CS8LS2-SR, or CS8LS-VE-SR) may be required for conversion. The installation of this camshaft may necessitate a stall converter and requires consultation with a tuner for optimal performance.
