The Ireland Engineering IE Stage 2 Sport Spring Set is engineered for performance enthusiasts seeking a more aggressive suspension setup for their BMW 2002. These sport springs are designed to lower the vehicle by approximately 1.5 inches, providing a more planted stance. Featuring a stiffness that is about 30% greater than the Stage 1 spring set, these springs are ideal for autocross or track driving. They are 5 inches in diameter and specifically designed to fit the stock perches of the BMW 2002 without requiring any modifications. While offering a firm ride, they are intended to remain not excessively harsh for street use. Installation requires placing the longer springs in the rear and the shorter springs in the front. It is normal for there to be some slack in the springs when the car is off the ground, particularly in the front. This is because the springs are physically shorter than stock and will only become tensioned once the vehicle is lowered onto its wheels. For racing applications, safety wire can be used to secure the springs when the car is on a lift. Bilstein 'Sport' shocks are recommended for optimal performance with this spring set.
