The Eldor Direct Ignition Coil is an OE-quality replacement part for your BMW. This component is crucial for your engine's ignition system, delivering the necessary power for the spark plug to ignite the fuel-air mixture. If you're experiencing symptoms like reduced fuel efficiency, decreased power output, or misfires, a faulty ignition coil could be the culprit. This is a direct ignition coil, also known as a coil-on-plug system. In this setup, each spark plug has its own ignition coil mounted directly above it, eliminating the need for traditional spark plug wires. Coil-on-plug systems are common in modern vehicles for their packaging, performance, emissions, and maintenance benefits. While generally reliable, these coils may require occasional replacement. Eldor advises using dielectric grease during installation to protect the spark plug boot and create a sealed, dust-tight connection, which can also enhance ignition performance. It's important to note that Eldor does not have an aftermarket sales division, so these coils will typically come in a plain white box or one branded with BBT Technologies, not Eldor branding. The part number on the coil itself should read "750-990012" or "R1705S00100" along with a production date/time stamp. This ignition coil is compatible with a wide range of BMW and MINI models equipped with B38, B46, B48, B58, or S58 engines, including various 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and X series BMWs, as well as specific Mini Cooper models from 2014 onwards. It is also listed for the 2014-2020 BMW i8 and the 2020+ Toyota Supra GR.
