The Genuine ignition coil is a direct ignition coil manufactured by Eldor. It is a revision G, red coil that replaces OEM part number 06E905115G.

The Genuine 06E905115G is a direct ignition coil, often referred to as a coil-on-plug system, designed to replace faulty coilpacks and resolve engine misfires. This red top coilpack is specifically utilized on various Audi and Volkswagen models, commonly found on engines such as the 2.5L 5-cylinder, 2.0T FSI and TSI, and as a stock component for many 3.0T and 3.2L V6 applications. Direct ignition coils are situated directly above the spark plug, with one coil per spark plug, eliminating the need for traditional spark plug wires. This design is prevalent in modern vehicles due to advantages in packaging, performance, emissions control, and simplified maintenance. While generally maintenance-free aside from spark plug replacement, ignition coils can occasionally fail. Symptoms of direct ignition coil failure include reduced fuel efficiency, decreased power output, and engine misfires. This coil is a factory replacement for previous revisions including 06E905115, 06E905115A, 06E905115B, 06E905115C, 06E905115D, 06E905115E, and 06E905115F. It is important to note that this coil is not compatible with new Gen 3 EA888 engines, which utilize a different bolt-in style coil. It is also recommended to replace spark plugs concurrently with ignition coils to ensure optimal engine performance.
