Ignition Coil Kit

The Vargas Turbo Technologies (VTT) Ignition Coil Kit offers a high-performance upgrade designed for BMW N5X platforms, B58/S58/B48 engines, and select VAG applications. Each coil set is performance-validated through rigorous, repeatable testing in the United States to ensure it meets or surpasses factory performance standards. The development process involved extensive outreach to OEM and aftermarket manufacturers, with prototype coils commissioned and tested. Only the highest-performing designs were selected and produced to VTT's exact specifications. Performance benchmarks show that VTT N5X coils match or exceed Delphi 10571 output, VTT B58 coils match or exceed factory Bosch B58 performance, and VTT VAG coils significantly exceed factory output, delivering substantially higher secondary spark energy. The VTT VAG coil was described by a test engineer as a “BEAST” compared to the OEM unit. Fitment is available for BMW N54/N55/S55 (6-cylinder), BMW B58/B48/S58, and VAG platforms (4- or 5-cylinder configurations). The coils are available in Red, Black, or Blue. Upgraded spark plugs are also recommended for optimal performance and reliability. The product utilizes a specific ISL9V5036S3ST IGBT ignition driver, the same used in BMW MSD80 DMEs, allowing for direct comparison of thermal behavior with stock coils. Thermal testing was conducted in free air at 67°F ambient, concluding at 160°F IGBT temperature or 260 seconds. To maximize performance, minor tuning adjustments are required to optimize dwell time. Recommended dwell settings are 3.4 ms for VTT N5X, 3.8 ms for VTT VAG, and 4.7 ms for VTT B58. Improper dwell settings may reduce performance or increase thermal load.
