The Genuine Toyota 89621-35020 is a direct replacement ignition control module, also referred to as an igniter or ignition module. It directly replaces Toyota part numbers 89621-41010 and 89621-07010, offering a straightforward solution for your vehicle's ignition needs. This ignition control module is compatible with a range of Toyota models, including the 4Runner (1996-2002), Avalon (1995-1999), Camry (1997-2001), Sienna (1998-2001), Solara (1999-2003), T100 (1996-1998), Tacoma (1996-2001), and Tundra (2000-2003). Specific engine and trim details are provided for each vehicle to ensure accurate fitment. Installation requires careful attention, especially in breakerless and distributorless ignition systems. For distributorless systems, the igniter is often integrated into the coil assembly and cannot be refitted separately. When installing, it's crucial to disconnect the negative battery terminal and be aware of any anti-theft system codes for your stereo. The process involves unplugging the electrical connector, removing bracket screws, and then removing the igniter bracket assembly. Installation is completed in reverse order. Testing the igniter involves checking for battery voltage, 5.0 volts, and specific signal fluctuations while the engine is cranked. If all tests are good and ignition coil trigger signals are absent, further checks of the circuits to the coils are recommended before replacing the igniter. Note that this testing guide may not apply to integral ignition coil/igniter units on certain later models.
